History c. 1898-1945, Transitions:
Early-Twentieth-Century Period |
"At the turn of the century the Church's
finances suffered from the lingering effects of the
federal crusade against Polygamy and the public doubted
that its recently declared cessation of Plural Marriage
had indeed taken effect. After discussing developments in
these two areas, this article looks at the Latter-day
Saints' integration into the larger American society,
including examining the Church's position on war and
peace. It also reviews the efforts to systematize that
accompanied the steady growth throughout this period." Encyclopedia of Mormonism |
