**Try using the Hymn "Let the Holy Spirit Guide" (#143)--use phrases for monthly themes, try linking them to the seven values.**
Learning to feel the Spirit, What are the Holy Ghost's responsibilities? How can I use the Spirit to make decisions? How does my media use relate to feeling the Spirit? How can I more regularly feel the Spirit? What behaviors invite the Spirit? How can I invite the Spirit to help me share the Gospel? How can the Spirit help me be a better person? What role does the Spirit play in redeeming the dead? Where can I go to feel the Spirit? What will the Holy Ghost tell me to do?
January-As I learn more about the Holy Ghost, I will know better how to let the him guide me
Learn and memorize hymn #143, "Let the Holy Spirit Guide".
Find other songs relating to the Holy Ghost in the Hymnal and the Children's Songbook. Prepare to sing one of them for an upcoming sacrament meeting or special event.
Scripture study--What does it feel like when the Holy Ghost is with us, guiding us, telling us things, etc. Look up Holy Ghost in the Topical Guide and Index of your scriptures. Look up the scriptures listed and the other suggested searches. Make a card file of scriptures relating to the feelings of the Spirit, gifts of the Spirit, answers to prayers, etc. Highlight those passages in your scriptures and decorate them with distinctive designs to make it easy to see what the scripture is about.
Write poetry or songs about what you are learning about the Holy Ghost.
Write in your journal the times you felt the Spirit--answering a prayer, comforting you, bearing testimony to you, etc.
Collect stories from your family regarding times they felt the Spirit.
February-I am a better disciple of Jesus Christ as I let the Holy Spirit guide
Learn more about Jesus Christ by reading 3 Nephi and following what he taught--how to treat children, how to read scriptures, etc.
Watch a video about Jesus Christ or about his disciples to see what they did and what we can do
March-I show my Faith as I let the Holy Spirit guide
Find scriptures, New Era or Ensign stories that talk about faith and the Holy Ghost guiding. Share them and what you learned with the other girls in your class.
Act out the story of Nephi getting the brass plates as an example of someone having faith and letting the Holy Ghost guide. Get dressed up, sing "Nephi's Courage"' from the Children's Songbook.
Learn songs about faith in the Children's Songbook and the Hymnal. Memorize and sing for sacrament meeting or a youth gathering. Note the connection between faith and the Holy Ghost. ("I Know My Father Lives" could be an easy one)
April-I understand and develop my Divine Nature as I let the Holy Spirit guide
The Proclamation on the Family tells us a lot about the roles of men and women. What does the Holy Ghost tell you about your role as woman, wife, mother? What do other scriptures teach you about these important roles. Record what the Holy Ghost testified to you about your divine roles.
Consider talents that you have and that you'd like to have. Include a list of spiritual gifts and other talents. Find activities to develop them and let the Holy Ghost help you know how to use them in a spiritually uplifting way. (Art show or Musical concert--can bring joy to others and even bear testimony, Sports activity--good example, take care of your body, Foreign language and customs activity--love everyone and prepare for missionary service)
May-I feel my Individual Worth as I let the Holy Spirit guide
Learn the words to "I Stand All Amazed" (Hymns #193). Read Doctrine and Covenants section 18. What does the Holy Ghost tell you about these materials? Share your feelings regarding what Jesus Christ did for you.
June-I gain spiritual and earthly Knowledge as I let the Holy Spirit guide
Go to the library and choose subjects you would like to study. As you study and learn, invite the Spirit to be with you to help you learn
Learn about ways to study the scriptures more effectively and how to invite the Spirit to be with you as you study the scriptures. Consider the following ideas and questions to study the scriptures:
What did this section teach me about Jesus Christ and how should I act now that I have this knowledge? Try writing what you learned about Jesus Christ for each day's reading or each 6 page section.
What did I learn about families and how can I improve my own family as a result? Try highlighting all the words pertaining to family and friends to see the teachings relating to family better.
What prophesies were made or fulfilled and how does that relate to me?
What did I learn about the results of obedience or disobedience and how will this change my life?
How did what I read relate to the temple and how does this relate to my personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ? Try highlighting every time the word temple is mentioned and take notes about what other words frequently occur with it (such as ordinances, priesthood, order, obey, chastity, learning, Atonement, Jesus Christ, Savior, salvation).
Why did Mormon and Moroni include these pageshow does it relate to our day?
How can these pages help me with my callings, my relationships with my ward?
What can I learn about the 2nd coming and what I must do to prepare myself for the trials to come and the eventual return of the Savior?
What did I learn about prayer and how can I improve my communication with Heavenly Father?
What did I learn about adversity, trials, and temptations and how can I act on this knowledge?
What did I learn about the first principles of the Gospel (faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost) and how can I better live these principles?
What other principles have I learned more about and how can I better live them (service, patience, humility, charity, honesty, virtue, keeping covenants, etc.)?
July-I appreciate and wisely use my Choice and Accountability as I let the Holy Spirit guide
Examine the songs you listen to, your favorite shows or movies and see if they invite the Spirit or push him away.
Using the Holy Spirit as your guide, consider situations that you may be in and choose the right way to handle them--smoking, drinking, drugs, early dating, kissing or hugging sessions, premarital sex, watching movies against your standards, stealing something. Act out situations and practice what the Holy Ghost would direct you to do.
Write stories of people confronted with a choice and what happens if they follow or do not follow the Holy Ghost.
Read the scriptures and Church history to find stories of people confronted with a choice and whether they followed the Holy Ghost.
