The Purpose of Activities

Activities in the Young Women's Program serve several purposes. They help each girl:

~ Develop friendships with others that have similar standards and give and receive strength through them

~ Learn more about the gospel, the world, and herself

~ Apply gospel principles

~ Develop a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

~ Set and achieve goals

~ Develop her talents and recognize her divine nature

~ Help her prepare for a useful and productive life as a woman, a wife, a mother, and a member of the Church and society

When we select activities, we should follow the instructions given by the General Young Women's Presidency and plan with a purpose. We are wasting time, money, effort, and opportunities if all we do is entertain our youth at activities. Young women and young men are capable of spiritual experiences, strong testimonies, and learning a great deal about the Gospel. For more information about the purpose of activities, see the Young Women's Leadership Handbook.
